VOJ presents challan against then Floriculture director | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Sept 27: Vigilance organization, Jammu after completion of investigation in purchase of more than 40 lacs in floriculture department today filed challan in the court of special Judge Anti-corruption against the Incharge Director Floriculture, J&K, Kulbushan Kumar Sharma and Section Officer Abdul Rashid Mir u/s 5(2) J&K PC Act 2006 r/w section 120-B RPC. According to the challan that a joint surprise check was conducted on the basis of complaint June 11, 2005. Subsequently the approval from Commissioner Vigilance J&K, the present case was registered on September 20, 2006. This case pertaining to purchase of machinery equipments at exorbitant rates resulting in loss to the state exchequer, it is alleged in the FIR that Govt order dated October 28, 2004 a State Level Purchase Committee headed by Kulbushan Sharma, then Incharge Director Floriculture, J&K was constituted for purchase of machinery equipments. According to the challan, Sharma in furtherance of criminal conspiracy with other purchased machinery items on exorbitant rate of Rs 40, 95, 925 as against actual cost of Rs 32, 34, 506/- and CST, Freight etc have purchase for Rs 33, 78, 489/- as against the purchased rate Rs 40, 95, 925 in this manner the accused public servant were found to have conferred undue benefit of Rs 7, 17, 436 to the supplier firm. It is further submitted in the challan the accused KK Sharma received faxed price list marked to accused Section officer Abdul Rashid Mir was not shared with the members of SLPC. On the basis of the evidence on file, a case against KK Sharma, then Incharge Director Floriculture, Jammu, J&K and Abdul Rashid Mir, then Section Officer has been made out and after completion of investigation today presented challan.
