| Killings in Mendhar termed unfortunate, day observed as sinful | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Sept 27: Taking serious view of the unfortunate incident happened at Mendhar claiming three innocent lives besides injuring many other, former minister and MLA Sardar Rafiq Hussain Khan termed it as a sinful day in the history of the region since 1947.
A meeting was held in this regard in which senior citizens of Mendhar town of district Poonch participated and shared their views.
It was observed that the compensation announced by Centre was inadequate and was demanded that the govt. should made a compensation minimum to the tune of Rs 10 lakhs to the next of the kins of the deceased and a govt.job for their family members.
The meeting further observed that the property which was damaged during protest also extended great loss to the common sufferers and demanded that govt. should immediately prepare total estimate cost of the damaged property and earlier steps should be taken in this regard so that the administration may run there offices temporally till permanent arrangement is made.
MLA Mendhar also condemned the statement made by the Chief Minister during his visit to Poonch regarding the incident in which he stated that some political parties were involved in the incident and declared it to be immature statement of CM.
An appeal was also made to the people of Rajouri –Poonch to maintain brotherhood atmosphere across the twins border districts .Others who were present in the meeting include SDM Mendhar Mukhitar Chowdhary,Tehsildar Dev Raj Sharma, SDPO Rafiq choudhary,DySP IRP Farooq Khan,SHO mendhar,SHO Gurasi , P A.Khan Superintendent SDH Mendhar, zonal president PDP M A Sagar , retd.naib tehsildar Mohaamed Azam Fani state general secy. Nadeem Khan, district secy youth Imran Ali Khan, Shareef Mohd Aftab,Faiz Sayeed Khan, Satish Sasan and other senior members.
