“Fast unto death” of dental students enter day 4 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 27: “Fast unto Death” being observed by the students of the Indira Gandhi Government Dental College (IGGDC) Jammu has entered 4th day today in support of their demands. They were also today joined by other 16 other students up to 9 pm today at the administration department of the college. Over all protest entered 48th day today. The issue erupted when Dental Council of India (DCI) derecognized the IGGDC on the plea that the college was without necessary requirements including Principal, teachers of different faculties, and also required infrastructure. Pertinently their demands included the recognization from Dental Council of India (DCI) besides appointments of principal and other staff. Meanwhile, condition of one of the striking students, Gulshan Kumar, deteriorated and he was shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital where he was discharged after treatment. DC Jammu and Principal GMC had met the striking students, but were unable to satisfy the striking students.
