Over trivial issue, 8th class student murdered at Darhal

JAMMU, Sept 27: Over the trivial issue of grazing cattle in a forest enclosure at Sarotha Chowkian in Darhal area of Rajouri, a youth first murdered a 15-year-old boy and then threw his body down the hill to make it
look like an accident.
Police sources identified the dead as Mohammad Ikhlaq Ahmad (15), son of Muneer Hussain of Sarotha Chowkian, and the accused as his neighbour Shehraz Ahmad alias Shah (20), son of Gulam Ahmad alias Jatta.
While Ikhlaq studied in 8th class in a village school, Shah was a student of 10th class, the sources added. Ikhlaq's body was found on September 6. His head was crushed and
the body bore multiple injuries.While it seemed as if the boy had died after falling from the hill,
police launched inquest proceedings into the incident.
Sources said while probing into the incident, a special police team headed by Darhal police station SHO, Inspector Zakir Shaheen Mirza picked up Shah for questioning.
During sustained interrogation, he allegedly confessed to have murdered Ikhlaq, the sources added.
Ikhlaq and Shah often fought over grazing cattle in a forest enclosure. On the day of the incident, Ikhlaq was grazing his cow in the enclosure when Shah came there and objected to it.
When Ikhlaq refused, there was heated exchange of words between them. In a fit of anger, Shah later allegedly attacked him on the head with a sharp-edged grass cutter, resulting in his instant death.
Sources said to make the murder look like an accident, he allegedly smashed Ikhlaq's head with a heavy stone and then threw the body down the hill.
Following his confession, he was arrested and booked under section 302 of RPC. The weapon was offence was also recovered by Inspector Mirza at Shah's instance, the sources added.
Sources said the mystery shrouding the boy's death was solved by the SHO within 20 days of the incident.The team led by Mirza worked under the supervision of DSP Ashok Sharma and SSP, Rajouri.
