Army ready to accept UC decision on AFSPA | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT rajouri, Sept 27: General Officer in Command of White Knight Corps, Lieutenant General Rameshwer Roy has said that army has to accept the decision of Unified Command over Armed Forces Special Power Act. He has also said that Pakistan has opened many temporary training camps in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir and these camps are being changed from one place to another after few months. Talking to mediapersons here after Army mela, Rameshwer Roy said that the Centre government has authorised Unified Command of the State to take decision on Armed Forces Special Power Act. Without saying anything about its impact if revoked, Roy said that army has to accept the decision taken by the Unified command. "Centre has clearly mentioned in 8-point formula announced recently about the deciding authority whether AFSPA should go or remain in force and we have to accept the decision of the UC", Roy said. Replying a question, Roy said that Pakistan has started operating temporary training camps for militants in the forest areas of PoK and these camps are changed in few months. He said that although there are various permanent camps in the PoK, some new camps have come up and their location is being changed after few months. On the infiltration attempts, Roy said that Pak army lend helping hand to the militants and open fire on Indian posts only to push militants to this side. He said that Pak Army was following the strategy for the last many years and they are still pushing militants by giving them cover fire. Earlier, army's ace of spade division organised Mela at Rajouri with the aim to honour the ex-servicemen of the region and provide them a platform for amelioration of their hardships and acquaint the local population with the recruitment procedures. Lieutenant General Rameshwer Roy was the chief guest while Major General Om Parkash, General Officer in Commanding Ace of Spade Division along with large number of civil administration officials, prominent citizens and locals were present on the occasion. As a part of the ongoing efforts of the army to provide good medical facilities for the local population, a medical camp was organised to provide free medical care to the needy. A variety of stalls were established by various agencies of the Army to spread awareness amongst the local populace, ex-servicemen and Veer Naris. A cultural show and a display of military equipments was also organised. The military band enthralled the spectators with their melodies. The chief guest distributed modified scooters, scholarship and numerous other gifts to the needy ex-servicemen and veer naris. Later, an interactive rally for the ex-servicemen was conducted during which a large number of problems projected by the ex-servicemen were resolved on the spot. |
