| ’Doors open for talks’ | | Sharma lauds Azad’s efforts for equitable development of all regions | | JAMMU OCT-28- Senior Congress leader and Member Parliament Madan Lal Sharma said that Congress party has always maintained consistency in its approach towards Jammu and Kashmir to achieve ever- lasting peace in the state. The doors for negotiations are open for all those who are willing to talk and help eliminate militancy and restore complete peace and normalcy in the trouble torn Jammu and Kashmir, he added. Addressing a public rally organized by Suman Bhagat MLA and former Minister at R S Pura today said that the coalition dispensation in the state has been making progress on all fronts including ensuring equitable and rational development of all the three regions of the state. He said since Azad took over as Chief Minister, there has been appreciable change in the functioning of the state administration and improvement on all fronts is quite visible. ‘Saying that most of the promises made by the Congress party in its election manifesto in 2002 have been fulfilled, he said and in this connection referred to the implementation of Wazir Commission recommendations and constitution of Finance and Delimitation Commissions. Referring to the losses suffered by the farmers during the recent heavy rains followed by hail storm, the Congress leader impressed upon the revenue authorities to assess the loss on war footing so that compensation is granted to the affected farmers. He also dwelt at length about various schemes launched by the Centre for socio-economic transformation of down trodden people and those living below the poverty line. President District Congress Committee Jammu, Rural Thakur Balwan Singh and Raman Bhalla, MLA also addressed the meeting.
