9/28/2010 11:23:03 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 28:
Ellaquai Dehati Bank, a rural bank sponsored by State Bank of India, has launched a special housing loan scheme which assures low interest rates in the first three years.
Launching the special scheme “Ashiyana”, chairman of the bank A K Razdan said that there is an enormous unmet demand for housing finance and the bank is making a modest effort to meet the demand, especially in rural and semi urban areas.
He said that more and more people are dreaming to have their own dwelling units and banks have to play an important role in fulfilling their dreams.
He said that the tailor made scheme will cater to the needs of all income groups and provide them an opportunity to construct/purchase their dream houses.
Enumerating the attractive features of the scheme, Razdan said that the maximum limit of the scheme has been extended with soft and redesigned interest rate structures.
“Although the RBI has increased certain rates which are likely to make the loans dearer in the near future but our bank has launched the “Ashiyana” scheme to boost its credit delivery to retail housing sector during the coming festival season” chairman said.
Razdan laid emphasis on the staff to reach to the deep and un-banked pockets in its area for extending financial services to the people.
“Our bank is committed to cent percent financial /credit inclusion in the identified areas and will soon launch a special drive for the purpose with the support and guidance of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD)” he said.
