| University rules violated; Colleges notify different fee structures | | |

JAMMU, Sept 28: In a glaring example of alleged highhandedness of administration of different colleges of the Jammu region affiliated with the University of Jammu, fee structure in these colleges are different.
Fee structure of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar and Government Gandhi Memorial Science College (GGM) are totally different. This has caused a lot of resentment among student community of various colleges. This is clear cut violation of the university rules and regulations which have already notified that all government colleges will have same fee structure for same stream.
Students also alleged that many government colleges were making huge money to fill their pockets. As per the prospectus issued by the GGM Science College, fee structure for the B. Sc (non-medical) Part-II of three years degree course is Rs 2100 as the admission fee and Rs 350+50 per practical as the examination fee. While the Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar administration is charging Rs 2770 as the admission fee and Rs 580 as the examination fee for the same course of the same class.
The situation is almost same in the B. Sc (medical) with the stream of Biotechnology in both of the colleges. Their admission fee charged by the Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar is about Rs 5800, while the fee in the GGM Science College is Rs 5494 in the prospectus.
According to the sources, the different fee structure is charged by the college administration during the admission process. Students also alleged that the colleges are not giving proper facilities to the students even after charging hefty sum. They also said that even the teachers concerning the new subjects were not available in the college to teach them properly
