Canadian Mathematician delivered extension lecture at M.A.M College | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 28: Mathematics Club of Govt. M.A.M College organized an extension Lecture by Prof. P.M Gauthier, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Montreal, Canada today Prof. Gauthier has more than 100 research papers published in journals of International repute and has written and edited many books gave lecture on the topic Universal Functions- function that approximate all functions. He threw light on Approximation Theory, Riemann Hypothesis in Complex Analysis. He proved that Riemann Zeta Functions are universal, whereas there is no such example known for entire functions that are universal. The Lecture was followed by an interaction session in which number of queries were made by the staff and students which were replied by the resource person in effective manner. After the interaction, Prof. Gauthier appreciated the quality of questions and interactions posed by PG students. Prof. Ajeet Angral, the Principal of the College in his welcome address expressed gratitude over the visit of the eminent Mathematician and advised the students to take maximum benefits from such resource persons in order to have overall view of the latest trend in the concerned subject so that students are able to compete at global level. He assured full cooperation to the Department of Mathematics in all the programmes meant for overall development in academics and extension activities for the students. Dr. Rajshree Dhar, In charge of P.G Department of mathematics introduced the resource person and presented the vote of thanks. Prof Suman Sharma, Dr. Chander Shekhar, Prof. Anju Bala, Prof. K.R. Sawhney, Prof. Shoba Gupta, Prof. Sushma Chib, Prof. Arpan and Prof Preeti alongwith all the P.G students of Mathematics attended the lecture.
