PDP, Panthers stay away from all party meet convened by Speaker | | | Early Times report Jammu, Sept 28: Ahead of Assembly session, the main opposition PDP has started throwing its weight on the government led by rivals NC as the party chose to stay from the All Party meeting convened by Speaker Mohammad AKbar Lone today in the Assembly Secretariat. Though conveneing of meeting with all political parties is a parliamentary convention seen usually at Centre ahead of the Parliament session and followed in the J&K state as well for some years, but this time the meeting assumed significance in the backdrop of continuous turmoil and disturbances in Kashmir Valley which saw loss of many lives. Anticipating a hot and stormy session, the Speaker had earlier also appealed political parties to cooperate and help run the session smoothly. The All Parties Meeting is also held in the backdrop of this idea of seeking cooperation and coordination from parties to enable conduct of business in a peaceful manner and with a democratic spirit. However, no leader from PDP came to attend the meeting today, sources said adding that nor did any Legislator or the leader from Panthers Party came to attend this meeting.
