BJP pleads Jammuites to observe peaceful Bandh, support pours in | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 29: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appealed people of Jammu region to observe complete and peaceful Bandh as a mark of protest against discrimination being meted out to Jammu region by state and centre governments respectively. This was stated by BJP State Spokesperson Ramesh Arora in a press statement issued here today. He said that Jammu has been completely ignored and like previous governments, aspirations of Jammu people have not been addressed both by the state and centre. He stressed that no relief to victims of 2008 was announced rather a compromise formula comprising of 8-points was announced for separatists. Arora has appealed the Centre government not to encourage the government which is unable to control the situation in Kashmir due to its non-political and Kashmir-centric approach and confused policies. “We always favour stringent laws to deal with militancy and this step of narrowing down applicability of Armed Forces Special Powers Act in state will further deteriorate the situation’, he mentioned. Arora welcomed all the organizations who have extended support to the Bandh call as it will reflect the unity and united stand of Jammu people over the issue of discrimination with Jammu. BJP also warned state administration and police machinery not to disturb peaceful Bandh. He appealed the people to observe complete and peaceful Bandh. Meanwhile, Sanatam Dharam Natak Samaj has decided to extend support to BJP’s Jammu Bandh call. This was announced by Sanatam Dharam Natak Samaj Chairman Yudhvir Sethi while addressing media persons here today. Sethi said that Natak Samaj decided to support Bandh call because the issue is directly related with Jammu province, which has been subjected to repeated discrimination for the last 63 years. He alleged that the governments at the Centre and in the state were working towards fulfillment of demands of separatists, giving monetary benefits under one package or the other to the valley and treating the criminals as innocents. Sethi regretted that in 2008 land row agitation, Jammu's Industry, businessmen, traders, transporters suffered huge losses but till date, no step has been taken to provide them any financial help. He appealed all the communities and various organizations to extend their support for the cause of Jammu and make Jammu bandh Successful. Natak Samaj President Sat Samotra, Vice President Anil Masoom, working committee members Swaran Kumar, Kewal Krishan, Arun Sethi. Pawan. Kahjuria and Rajinder Kumar were also present in the press conference. Student scholar Joint Action Committee (SSJAC) has also extended support to Jammu Bandh call and requested students of different colleges and schools to boycott classes. In the meeting, Mohinder Pal Singh Pandu said that state government is silent over the problems being faced by Dental College students, Home guards, West-Pakistani Refuges, Engineers and ITI diploma holders. Those who were present in the meeting included Ajay Tallor, Parduman Singh, Manoj Heer, Sunny, Lovejeet Singh, Satwant Singh, Satveer Jamwal, Honey, Abhijyot Singh, Lucky Singh, Praveen Kumar Sharma, Kapil Sharma and others.
