National conference activists staged a half naked protest rally from Indira Chowk to the office of the chief engineer PHE here today. Protestors shouted slogans against the utter failure of the department to provide regular drinking water supply in Jammu.
The rally was led by Chander Mohan Sharma, Distt. President, Jammu Urban of National Conference. The activists were carrying placards in their hands “Dilawar Mir Hai Hai, PHE Minister Hai Hai, etc.
On the occasion, Sharma, said due to erosion of the Sitli Filtration Water Plant, areas of Jammu West have been badly affected. The stressed upon the govt. to ensure early restoration of Sitli Filtration Plant on war footing.
Later on, activist’s gherao the office of the chief engineer and also burnt the effigy of PHE Minister.
Others who were present include Hilal Beig, S.S. Shingari, Sucha Singh, Ravi Dogra,
Somnath Khajuria, Sham Mehra, Rachpal Singh, Ashok Manhas, Jameel Shah and others.
