Mohan Singh’s Dogri play “Dharam” read as presentation | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 29: Samooh Theatre organised a play reading of Mohan Singh’s new Dogri play “Dharam” here at K.L.Sehgal Hall, Abhinav Theatre, Jammu. On the occasion, Smt. Savita Bakshi Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages was the chief guest. In her address she welcomed the new play in Dogri which will fulfill the dearth of Dogri plays while appreciating the play content and form she expressed hope that the play shall definitely be staged very soon in near future by the theatre Groups. The play Dharam was based on the contemporary degradation of values in the middle class and the other classes as well. But the writer has especially tried to portrait the tragedy of middles class who witnesses everything with regards to the socio-political exploitation but they remain mute spectators as psychofants where as writer wants to convey and communicate that religion is the belief and worship of God or Gods or a set of belief concerning the origin and purpose of the Universe. Welcoming the guests, Dr. Sudhir Mahajan said that it was matter of happiness that one new play has come in the Dogri literature and theatre and It should be welcomed by the writers and artist fraternity . The Play was read by the noted theatre artists of the State included Kulvir Singh. The prominent persons from the Literaure Art and theatre fraternity were also present on the ocassion which include Sh. Vijay Malla, Randhir Singh Rajpuria,Sh. Janak Khajuria, Kumar A Bharti, Prakash Premi, Dr. Sushil Sharma, Prof. Shiv Dev Singh, Dhian Singh and Others. Mohan Singh presented vote of thanks.
