No Trust Motion against Govt | Opposition unlikely to join hands on Himalayan feature | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 29: With Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) BJP and NPP ready to corner the Omar Abdullah Government, the 12 day long brief Assembly session beginning in Summer Capital tomorrow will likely to start with a stormy note. Though there will be no main business on the opening day tomorrow and the House will be adjourned after the obituary reference, but during the remaining days of the session the opposition will add to the worries of the Government by cornering it on various issues including the prevailing lawlessness in Valley. The PDP, NPP and BJP along with some independents have gird up their loins to put the coalition Government led by Omar Abdullah on mat for its failure in containing present violence in the Valley. The BJP has already given the Motion of No Confidence to Speaker Legislative Assembly and the party needs the support of 23 MLAs for admitting it. The Party which ahs only 11 members in the House is however trying to rope in other opposition parties and garner their support for tabling the No Trust Motion against the Government. The sources close to BJP said that the Party is in close touch with National Panthers Party Legislators and independents. However no talks were held with PDP on the issue so far. The BJP sources said that Omar Abdullah Government has failed on all fronts and the Party has taken a stand at national level that this Government has lost the right to rule as it failed to gain the confidence of the people of the state and contain the growing lawlessness in Valley. In view of the party's stand at national level against the coalition Government in the state the state leadership was left with no alternative except to bring a No Trust Motion against the Government, the Party sources, said. However the independent MLAs and NPP leaders have denied that they were contacted by the BJP regarding this issue saying that they have only come to know about the NO Trust Motion from press reports. ``We were in all parties meeting with Speaker together yesterday but no body from BJP talked to us on this issue'', said one independent MLA. He termed the BJP's decision only a political stunt and nothing else otherwise had the party been sincere and relay interested in bringing the No Confidence Motion it should have taken the other like minded parties from Jammu into confidence, he added. The PDP however is yet undecided over the issue and in view of the prevailing political situation in the state, the Party will not like to go along with BJP to give a political edge to its arch rival NC in Kashmir. The sources said the PDP leadership will tread cautiously and refrain from supporting the BJP even on the No Trust Motion against the Government. The PDP sources said that Party has not taken any decision on supporting the BJP 's No trust Motion as yet and it is meeting tomorrow in Winter Capital to decide its future strategy to be adopted in the Assembly. However one thing is certain whether the Opposition parties join hands against the coalition or not but the Autumn Session will begin at a stormy note as all opposition parties including PDP, BJP, NPP as well as independents will try to corner the Government on the prevailing lawlessness in Kashmir, killing of innocent youth and its failure to restore the peace and normalcy. |
