| State Sport Climbing Championship from Oct 9 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, September 30: Organised by the Mountaineering Association of J&K in collaboration with Sprawling Buds School, Lakshmi Puram in Chinore, the 10th J&K State Sport Climbing Championship shall be held from October nine to October 10.
About 200 climbers from various districts of the state are likely to vie for honours in the two-day competition to be conducted on the pre fabricated 40ft high Tenzing Norgay Sport Climbing Wall in Sprawling Buds school premises.
“In case the participation exceeds 200 climbers, preliminary rounds of certain categories for Jammu, Udhampur and Reasi districts shall be conducted a day earlier,” general secretary of the Association, Dr C K Khajuria told SAN.
The competition shall be held in six categories of men, women (born in 1993 and earlier), boys, girls (born in 1994 and after) and sub-junior boys and girls (born in 1997 and after).
“While men, women, boys and girls shall compete both in ‘Lead climbing’ and `Speed climbing’, sub junior boys and girls shall participate in ‘Lead climbing’ only,” informed Dr Khajuria.
Interested climbers should send their nominations along with a registration fee of Rs.100 to the office of the Mountaineering Association of J&K at 75-76, Sarwal Colony, (behind Adventure Holidays India) Jammu or contact Ram Khajuria on Mobile No: 94191-96378 submit the same at Sprawling Buds School on any working day up to October six.
“On the spot registration shall also be done at Sprawling Buds School from 7.30 am to 8 am on October nine. National and zonal medal winners as well as reigning state champions in all the categories are, however, exempted from registration fee,” maintained general secretary.
Dr Khajuria, who is also qualified judge in sport climbing, shall be president of the Jury of the competition. He shall be assisted by Shawetica Khajuria, Ritesh Jagotra, Neha Datta, Roopali Sharma, Poonam Mishra and Satish Bhan. Technical and logistic support shall be provided by the North Zone Sport Climbing Committee.
