Exempt education from conflict: MLA Langate | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, SEPT 30: Accusing opposition PDP of politics of opportunism, MLA, Langate, Er. Abdul Rasheed today alleged the party stayed away from the proceedings of the assembly not to annoy their bosses in Delhi. He said since the House was about to discuss the atrocities being committed on Kashmiris, the party chose walk out to appease both New Delhi and local people alike. Speaking on the obituary reference in the Assembly today, Rasheed said the party under the garb of disturbances and public disorder tried to grab power in the State. But, he said, the party has failed in its desire. He said education should be kept away from the ambit of conflict appealing senior separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani to exempt schools and education from his agitational calendar. He said though, as a Kashmiri he too has a right to ask Hurriyat leaders where their wards were studying but also questioned the rationale of such an allegation from the ruling class. “Where are your children studying”, he questioned the treasury benches saying the separatists too had a right to educate their wards. Rasheed accused the politicians who in an effort to play to the galleries have delayed and complicated the resolution of Kashmir issue. Rasheed said mere words of condolences wont’ do as the situation demands practical steps on the ground. He said he overwhelmingly supported the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah wherever he felt the steps were taken in public interest. In this connection, he cited the example of relocation of troops from Bomai and appealed the Chief Minister to take such bold steps again. He said dialogue was the only option and asked the Government to act for the same.
