JURSEA flays PSC’s selection procedure
9/30/2010 10:58:55 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu 30 Sept; The Jammu University Research Scholar’s Executive Association (JURSEA) noticed that there are lot of problems that are being faced by the students and the scholars of this University and nothing has been done so far by the government to overcome with the problems that are being faced by the students and the scholar.
Addressing the meeting, JURSEA President Rakesh Chib alleged that the selection list of different department declared by PSC was unfair one and biased against the aspirants from Jammu region.
He raised suspicion over the selection procedure of J&K PSC and alleged that several qualified candidates were ousted by the commission, whereas the candidates with comparatively lesser qualification declared successful. He further said that Jammu students were no less than valley students then how latter outsmarted former in such a big manner, he said.
Rakesh Chib asked that PSC to come out with an explanation over the issue at the earliest. He also demanded that maximum weightage should be given to the M.Phil and PhD Degrees in the selection process. Chib condemned the use of pencil by the selection committee as the marking/ grading awarded by the committee can be changed after the interview time.
Chib added that apart from this the students coming to the campus have to face lot of problems due to non-availability of information by the information cell. The students and scholars suffer a lot by this timing as no forms / broachers are available after this timing.
He demanded that the timing of the information cell, the forms counter and the fees counter should be at par with the timing of the other university departments i.e. 09:30 to 5:00 p:m. He demanded that information cell should be located at the entrance where it is easily accessible and updated information provided to the students.
Those who attended the meeting included Babita Thakur Vice-President, Kuldeep Sharma, Vishal, Sunny Babber, Rahul, Amit and others.
