Prime accused in Dhandkote school fire arrested

RAJOURI, Sept 30: After five months when 42 year old Dhandkote Higher Secondary School was set on fire, Darhal police has solved the case by arresting prime accused. He has been sent to Dhangri Jail.
Darhal Police has reportedly arrested Tahir Farooq, son of Mohammad Munshi Mirza of the Dhandkote village in Darhal tehsil of Rajouri district. Farooq has been involved in various cases, including setting the school on fire, attempting suicide and attempt to rape. The culprit is said to be real brother-in-law of the Higher Secondary School, Dhandkote , Principal Javed Iqbal.
“Yes we have arrested Tahir Farooq in the case under RPC 436, 109 and 376”, Station House officer Police Station Darhal Zakir Shaheen Mirza said adding that the case was challaned and he has been sent to Dhangri Jail by the court.
SHO said that Farooq was the culprit behind burning Dhandkote School in April this year. He said that police had launched man hunt to nab the culprit. However, they succeeded when he was caught red handed by some people while attempting to rape a girl.
The culprit was also wanted in the area for various cases including suicide attempts and attacking government servants.
Police said that the people of the area have taken a sigh of relief after his arrest as they were continuously complaining about the conduct of the culprit.
SHO Darhal was lauded for this act. He has recently solved blind murder of a 8th class student by arresting the main culprit in the area.
It is pertinent to mention here that Higher Secondary School Dhandkote was one of the oldest school of Darhal tehsil in Rajouri district which was set on fire by Tahir Farooq in the month of April this year. All the records were destroyed however some lecturers had already taken their service books to their homes because they were aware about the criminal mind of this culprit.
Prior to this incident, Tahir Farooq had reportedly attempted to burn this school four times and was also involved in harassing the lectures of the school for which the he was charged and jailed.
