| NYK to hold cultural exchange programme at Chennai, Delhi | | | UDHAMPUR, OCTOBER 28- Thirty-two (32) youth drawn from all the 12 blocks of district Udhampur are going to participate in a week long youth cultural exchange programme at Chennai (Tamil Nadu) from November 4 to 9, 2006 where they would be exposed to different activities like folk songs, dances, dramas and group discussions on National Integration. Site seeing of places of historical importance besides holding interaction with rural people to acquaint themselves with the culture and traditions of the area will also constitute part of the programme. This was divulged by the Coordinator, Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Udhampur, Mr. S. P. Sharma while convening a meeting with all the 32 participating youth. The programme is being sponsored by NYK, Udhampur under the aegis of Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, GOI, New Delhi to acquaint the youth of different parts of the country to interact on a common platform besides learning about the culture and traditions of different regions of the country. The youth later would take part in 3-day cultural exchange programmes at New Delhi from November 12 to 14, 2006.They would be exposed to various activities of national interest at New Delhi besides conducting tours of historical monuments and sites worth seeing. These youth would also take part in various mega final events on the occasion of birth anniversary of late Prime Minister of India, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru at New Delhi on 14th November, 2006.
