AJHLA seconds CCI demand to include Jammu, Ladkah for loan restructuring | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 1: All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association has endorsed the demand made by CCI Jammu that restructuring and rescheduling of loans extended by J&K bank to the loanee traders in Kashmir valley should be extended to Jammu and Ladakh divisions as well. In a press statement issued, Inderjeet Khajuria president of the Association has assailed gross discrimination against Jammu region by the state and the Central governments. He observed that hospitality and tourism related industry in Jammu has been the worst victim of discrimination at the hands of state and the Central governments. ‘All the packages of relief, rehabilitation and incentives for revival of tourism related trades have remained confined to Kashmir valley. Tourism related trades in Jammu region which has equally suffered during these 20 years of militancy and turmoil in the state have been blatantly ignored’, he mentioned. He demanded extension of all the packages by the Central and state governments to the tourism industry in Jammu as well. The association observed that during last four months of violence in Kashmir hotels, lodges and other tourism related business in Jammu also received a great set back. Shri Amarnath Yatra which was all set to touch the record number of pilgrims to 8 Lakhs, could touch only the figure of little over four Lakhs. This adversely affected the occupancy in hotels and lodges in Jammu. AJHLA welcomed the balanced judgment delivered by Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court yesterday and said it should go a long way in fostering communal harmony and goodwill in the country. The others who attended the meeting included Pawan Gupta, Ajay Gupta, H S Manhas, Sunil Suri, Vikram Singh and Baldev.
