Helpage India celebrates elders day

Jammu, Oct 1: Help Age India a NGO working for the cause and care of under privileged elderly person across India today celebrates international day on older persons in Jammu.
Helpage India also celebrates this day in different ways every year. This year theme of celebrates this day in different every year. This year theme of celebration is health of elderly people. Function was held at Hotel Fortune Inn Riviera in presence of minister for technical education, medical education, youth services and sports, RS Chib. In the function some health related issues of our elderly people were discussed.
The welcome address was delivered by Help Age India manager J&K Sunita Santoshi followed by a descriptive lecture on Health by Project Officer Help Age India Rajesh Sharma.
A national level survey ‘Economic & Health Survey on India’s oldest Old’ was also released by minister on the occasion. Addressing the gathering minister threw light on the problems of elderly people in modern society and also highlighted the schemes run by government for the welfare of older persons. A very descriptive lecture on problems of older persons was delivered by KK Gandotra president All J&K Senior Citizens Welfare Council and Vijay Bagotra Secretary Old Age Home Amphalla Jammu.
RS Chib also announced Rs. 1 lakh for the organization under his constituency development funds.
The whole programme was compared by Help Age Senior executive Neeru Sharma. She also threw light on the working of Help Age India and added that Help Age India has been working 1977, towards integrating its programmes and services and now consciously moving from welfare towards development.
