Gandhiji and Today | | | MohanDas Karam Chand Gandhi was born on 2nd oct.1869 at porbandar in Kathiawar. He was born in middle class family of Vaishya cast. Hisfather was well to do man and his mother was saintly character, gentle and devout. The virtues and values of his parents i.e honesty, truth, dedication, determination, religiousness, love and peace left a deep impression on his life. Thus Gandiji acquired the virtues of love, honesty, loyalty from his family. His schooling start at an early age.He was an ordinary student but very punctual and obedient. He had never told a lie to his teacher and classmates. His life and work is amessage based on truth and non violence.Gandhiji has made significant contribution in field of politics, economy and social sphere,in the economic sphere he contribute theory of trusteeship.Gandhiji has a secularist outlook and was humanist. In Gandhiji`s view on the moral purity of the men,he asserted that one can not be morrally strong untill unless one raises oneself from selfishness and self centredness. So we must possess good and moral character. Gandhiji was in favour of peace and universal brotherhood.Gandhiji believed that at the core of every religion was truth and love(compassion non-violence and the golden rule). In fact later in his life when he was asked whether he was a Hindu,he replied "Yes I am,"I am also Christian, a Musilim, a Buddist and a Jew".But in present era people proud to call themselves Hindu and Muslim, today people are belong to this or that religious, they are no longer compotitan in their outlook. They never regard themselves as the member of grand society which call human race. In modern materialistic world people has forgeted thier origin as they are originate from the single seed and have a common grand parent and then God has divided the human race into nation and tribes. So gandhiji said that we should respect and recognize with each other rather than despise each other. But in modern world of seniories people changed their thinikng, changed society, changed behaviour, with the passage of time socity, nation, individual, changed the pathway of Gandhiji, they are behind the truth, reality, non-violence, culture. People also changed social, economic, and political ideology. Througout his life Gandhiji adocated non-violence Gandhiji sacrifies his life for peace, but what is happening today is a shame for all of us who call themselves as the campaions of huminity.Every part of the world is in the grip of violence and tell me is not Gandhijis philosophy of non-violence relevant today. Gandhiji was agaist the corruption as non stealing is an important weapon of self realisation and self enlightenment. But where we can apply his method of non stealing even India is trying to secure top first position in ranking in corruption. In india 2009 India was ranked 84 most corrupt country out of 180.Leaders refuse public service because they are content with their status and wealth. They put their conscience in to deep sleep. Our we call politicans with insatiable greed, are for ever looking for new opportunities to destroy society for thier personal gaine. Every right implies a responsibility, every opportunity and obligation, every possession a duty.Toady law was made for the richer and common man was made for the law.In our corrupt society, law is like spider webs that catch the weak and the poors but can be destroyed by the rich and the powerful. Gandhiji asserted that to keep a nation strong and free, there are some things that we must always be, so long as values and characters are kept alive, a nation and the people will always survive. People who lack moral values obtain positions of power they endanger society that is when corruption becomes rampant. Gandhiji want to enlighten the country through education but in today, number of school has opened but there are few teachers, students are unaware about lab, library from higher authority to lower employ funds in the name of welfare, education constitution are consumed by them. Gandhiji always favoured that justice should be quick and it should be in reach of common man. This Gandhian principle is relevant today and must be followed because crime is increasing day by day. Resultantly people are loosing their faith in law and injustice. But if justice is made quick and in reach of common man than it will be dually beneficial firstly, it will strengthen the faith of people in law and justice and secondly it will control the crime we must to followed the principle of Gandhiji so that our nation will purely become independent.
