Leprosy Day held

Kishtwar Oct 2:- on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, Leprosy Day was observed under Health and Family Welfare program in Kishtwar district in order to give awareness to the general public.
The awareness camp was organized in District Hospital Complex Kishtwar by Chief Medical Officer Kishtwar which was attended by large number local people.
On this occasion, CMO Kishtwar Dr. Ajay Gupta, threw light on the leprosy and advised the people that it is a curable disease and said that the disease is not hereditary. He said that any skin patch with loss of sensations can be Leprosy for which one should immediately consult the doctor.
He further said that Leprosy is not contagious and said that people should not hate those people suffering from this disease. He said that the treatment for Leprosy is free and Multi Drug Therapy (MDT) is available in all Govt. hospitals.
