| Day curfew lifted in Mendhar | | | JAMMU: With the normalcy returning to the border Mendhar town of Poonch, which had witnessed violent protests during the anti-US protests over a fortnight back, day curfew was lifted in the area today.
Three protesters were killed and several others, including cops, wounded during the protests. "The administration today lifted the day curfew in Mendhar, which was imposed over two weeks ago after large scale violence in the town during the anti-US and pro-Quran protests," official sources said.
The day curfew was lifted but night curfew would remain in force, the sources added, saying section 144 of CrPC would continue as a preventive measure during the day. |
