JAMMU, Oct 3: Samooh Theatre in collaboration with Duggar Manch organiSed a play reading of Rajneesh Gupta’s new Hindi play “Vyatha Hanuman” here at K.L.Sehgal Hall, Abhinav Theatre, Jammu.
On the occasion, Susham Sharma, a veteran radio, TV and theatre artist was the
chief guest.
In her address, she welcomed the new play in Hindi which will fulfill the dearth of Hindi
plays especially with regard to non-Hindi writer in J&K while appreciating the play
content and form she expressed hope that the play shall definitely be staged very soon
by the theatre Groups.
The play“Vyatha Hanuman” revolves around the exploitation and tragedy of poor
boy whose face looks like the face of the Hindu mythological character Hanuman. His
parents spread this news that Lord Hanuman has taken birth in their home. Contractors
of Ramlila offer money to them for the performance of stunt acts of Lord Hanuman by
their child and they happily accepted the money. The young boy also treated himself as a
Hanuman character and decides not to get married and remained Brahamchari.
A young girl of neighbourhood asked the young boy that he should marry in future
and set a family otherwise he will be ruined. At very sensitive moments, that young boy
develops physical relation with that girl. Contractors of Ramlila order the young boy to
perform very risky act in lieu of money and while doing this act he died.
After sometime, the young girl gives birth to a child who also bears a face looking
like his father. Now that woman exploited her son by doing stunt acts like God Hanuman in Ramlila. She declared that money is supreme and it always breaks the belief of man to remain honest trustworthy and true.
