Gangyal areas facing apathetic attitude of JMC | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 3: Joint Welfare Association, Ekta Vihar, Gangyal, has expressed concern over lack of development of Gangyal in general and Ekta Vihar colony in particular. Addressing a media conference here today, Baldev Singh Wazir, president of the association, assailed the apathetic attitude of the concerned authorities in upgrading the link road between Jammu-Pathankot National Highway at Gangyal and Bishnah town, passing through Ekta Vihar colony. ‘In case this 16 ft. wide link road is upgraded and properly developed, it can shorten the distance between highway at this point to Bishnah by 3 kms’, he mentioned, adding, ‘presently the link road is in a very bad condition and not properly motorable, particularly 400 meters of the road are bumpy’. The association further rued for not providing of street lights on this link road, leading to security risk. ‘The area falls under Jammu Municipal Corporation yet it has been blatantly ignored by the corporation’, he alleged. The association has also rued continuous functioning of a chips factory along the road, despite the J&K State Pollution Control Board stating that they have not issued No Objection Certificate to the factory. Terming the functioning of the factory as illegal and unauthorized, the association has demanded its immediate shifting or winding up. They complained that the ash raised from the chips factory pollutes their households as well as the Gurudwara situated nearby. Others present in the press conference included Chatur Singh Wazir, Swaroop Singh Risin, Balkar Singh, Rajkumar, Ravi Kumar, Parshotam Lal, G S Bali and Jaswinder Babbi.
