Farmers meet MP, put forth demands | | | Early Times Report Kathua Oct 3: A massive farmers meeting was convened by the Member of Parliament Choudhary Lal Singh at his Kathua residence to discuss the long pending genuine demands of the farmers community since long. MP Lal Singh said that the farmers community is the back bone of whole society and its survival has become on the verge of extinction, he further said that its extinction means the death of the society at large so it need to be protected and restore its dignity and welfare. He said that the Ravi Canal should be modernized and well planned developed to the irrigate the thousands of acre agriculture lands for which a project of Rs 62 crore as per the government scheme and at present lying at Delhi. ``The development of Ujh multipurpose power project which will produce at least 280 mega watt electricity and irrigate the more than 80 acres of agriculture land is in my top priority works, and the all distributories should be maintained properly to carry out the optimum flow of water to mitigate the problems of irrigation and concerned department should be active and conscious to provide the timely water to the farmers,’’ he said. He said that the most of the unemployed youth would get the employment when the agriculture land would get sufficient irrigation facility due to the Ravi Canal development. On the occasion, several farmers from their respective villages participated and highlighted their problems, Khajur Singh, Jatinder Singh, Dalip Saini from Nagri along with several farmers, Ex- sarpanch Parshotam Singh Poli from Barwal, from village Kharote, Rajbag, Burnoti, Kokhyal, Uttari, Budhi, Mertha, Hatli Lakhanpur, Matandi, and etc.were present.
