JKP XI enter quarterfinals of T20 Friendship Cup

JAMMU, Oct 3: Jammu and Kashmir Police XI today qualified for the quarterfinals of the ongoing Twenty20 Friendship Tournament, organised by J&K State Sports Council at Bana Singh Stadium, R S Pura today.
In today’s third round of pre-quarterfinals, J&K Police defeated Indian Tiger Cricket Club by 106 runs in a one-sided contest. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, JKP XI set a target of 173 runs for the loss of two wickets. Shashi played magnificent innings hitting a ton off mere 54 deliveries studded with five sixes and 12 boundaries. Ashwani too played a fine knock of 26 runs while Naresh contributed 23. From Indian Tiger Club, Ramandeep and Bodh Raj shared apiece each.
Batting second, Indian Tiger Club could not chase the total and the whole side bowled out for a small total of 66 runs in 15 overs. Bodh Raj was maximum scorer with 26 runs. Anil was most successful bowler from JKP XI with four for 18 in four overs while Ashwani took three wickets for just three runs.
For his match winning innings of a brilliant century, Shashi was declared man of the match.
Meanwhile, in other two matches of the day, Golden Cricket Club and Rangpur Nai Basti Club emerged winners to reach the pre-quarterfinals stages.
Golden Cricket Club defeated Gupar Basti Club by 60 runs. Batting first, Golden Club set a target of 113 runs, which, in reply, Gupar Club could not chase and bowled out for 52 runs in 12.1 overs. Jimmy was adjudged man of the match for his three wickets haul.
In another match, Rangpur Nai Basti trounced Khour Club by 38 runs. Earlier, batting first, Rangpur made 143 runs for nine. In reply, Khour Club bowled out for 105 runs. Dilbagh Singh was declared man of the match for his all round performance. He contributed 26 runs and claimed six wickets.
Today’s matches were officiated by Suresh Singh, Jagtar Singh, Pankaj Sasun and Madan Mohan.
