Bhalla lays foundation of culvert, nallah at Bathindi | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 3: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla has said that coalition Government is committed to connect every nook and corner of the State with nearest urban pockets in providing better road connectivity. Minister said this while inspecting the mecdamisation work of roads at Gandhi Nagar in Last Morh, Shastri Nagar, Nanak Nagar in Sector-12, being completed at an estimated cost of Rs 15 lakh by Roads and Buildings department. Bhalla asked the people not to dump building material on roads and open spaces adding that such practices are not creating traffic congestion in the areas but also affected the health. He asked the people to protect public property in their respective areas. He said that a comprehensive plan on anvil to beautify all the open spaces by constructing parks. At Kassana Mohalla in Bathindi, the Minister laid foundation for construction of culvert, 80 meter long nallah and link road, for which Rs 16 lakh has been earmarked. In the memory of martyrs Maj. I S Babbar and Maj Ajay Singh Jasrotia, a function was held at Sainik Colony, Sector-C where Bhalla was the Chief Guest. Responding to the demand of locals, Bhalla paid rich tributes to martyrs and announced Rs 32 lakh for unveiling the sculptures of Martyrs Maj. I S Babbar and Maj. Ajay Singh Jasrotia who sacrificed their lives for nation in fighting militants in Assam and Kargil. He asked the renowned Sculptor Ravinder Singh Jamwal of Birpur to prepare and design two sculptures of Martyrs. He said that one sculpture would be installed at Sector-C main chowk and another at Shaheedi Park. At Bhour Pind, Ward No. 1, the Minister donated one Activa make Honda scooty costing Rs 65,000 to a physically challenged youth Ashok Kumar under Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said that Government has sanctioned Rs 19 crore for establishing the colony at Sunjwan under Basic Services to Urban Poor scheme. He said that with the completion of the colony, urban poor of city of temples would be accommodated by providing all infrastructural facilities. He said that Coalition Government has sanctioned Rs 7 crore for construction of Multi Purpose Halls in various areas of the Gandhi Nagar.
