5 labourers died as tipper plunges into Chenab

KISHTWAR : Five labourers of a private construction company were killed while another one got injured in a tragic road accident near Shasoo Padder, about 50 kilometers from Kishtwar on Kishtwar-Himachal National Highway when they were on their way from Padder to Kishtwar late last night.
According to the reports, the ill fated tipper bearing registration No JK02T-0313 owned by G M T construction met with an accident when the driver of the ill fated vehicle Madan Lal (32 ) son of Bhagat Singh resident of Padyarna lost his control over the steering with the result the sand laden vehicle plunged into the mighty river Chenab.
The injured labourer was later shifted to District Hospital Kishtwar with the help of locals. The condition of the injured person is said to be stable. He has been identified as Sanjay Kumar (28) son of Gulab Chand resident of Padyarna.
As soon as the news of the accident reached Kishtwar, a large number of people along with police rushed towards the spot and shifted the injured Sanjay Kumar to District Hospital Kishtwar.
As per the statement of the injured Sanjay Kumar, the other labourers who were on board on ill-fated vehicle at the time of accident were identified as Madan Lal son of Baghal Singh (Driver), Dev Raj (36) son of Lakhmi Chand, Gulab Chand (45), Hem Raj (37) son of Faqir Chand and Robby Singh (35) son of Jai Lal all resident of Padyarna Kishtwar. He said that after meeting the accident he had to swim so as to come out of river water. A major rescue operation was launched by the police and administration with the help of the army to retrieve the bodies of the victims from the water of the river Chenab, but the success eluded them when last reports came in.
Meanwhile, Ex president Municipal Committee Kishtwar Shabir Ahmed Kamal, Chairman Social Reform sand Charitable Organization Kishtwar (SRCO) Sanjeev Parihar and President woman wing of SRCO Nusrat Farooq condole the loss of life in this tragic accident and prayed for the peace to the departed soul.
It is to mention here that G M T, a construction company, is owned by Tanveer Ahmed Kichloo, District President National Conference Kishtwar.
