Two youth ready to join HM rescued | | | JAMMU: With very less youth taking to militancy now and the outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Harkat-ul-Jehad-e-Islami (HUJI) having almost been wiped out in the hilly Kishtwar district, Pak-based militant groups were now trying to lure local youth into militancy by trying to brainwash them. Two youth, aged between 18 to 20 years, were today apprehended by a team of police and 17 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) from Patimahal in Palmar area of Kishtwar in the wee hours of today. They were to be included in Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) fold by the outfit's Hindu commander Subash alias Wasif today. Wasif was also to give them weapons to fight security forces, police sources said. Sources said Mohammad Iqbal, son of Bali Mohammad Shah of Patimahal, and Gulam Mohammad, son of Gulam Hussain Shah of Patimahal Palmar, left homes to join HM two days, or so back. Soon after the matter came to their notice, a team of police and 17 RR launched searches for the youth in the Patimahal Palmar forests, the sources added. The jawans were able to capture them from a HM hideout early in the morning. Sources said they had been kept in the hideout by Wasif, who had promised to give them weapons today. After their detailed questioning, they were handed over to their parents, the sources added. Sources said by making fresh recruitments, HM was making attempts to revive its activities in the area. Four youth, between 13 to 15 years of age, were rescued in Kishtwar on May 12 last while they were on their way to join LeT.
