| ‘Over Rs 1,600 cr allotted for dev works in J&K’ | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Oct 4: Asserting that the ruling coalition is committed for speedier development of all areas, Jammu and Kashmir government today said over Rs 1,600 crores have been allotted to 22 districts for execution of various development activities under district plan during the current financial year. "An amount of Rs 1,632.29 crore have been allotted to 22 districts of the state for execution of various developmental activities under district plan during the current financial year," Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather said replying to questions in the assembly here. He said out of Rs 1,632.29 crores, an amount of Rs 127.06 crore was utilised on execution of various development projects, besides other activities in these districts under district plan till July end. Over Rs 23.41 crores have been released in addition to all the districts under district plan for completion and accelerating the developmental projects during the month of March, he said. Several MLAs alleged that decisions taken at the District Development Board meetings were not being implemented on the ground and in certain cases, the concerned MLAs were not even consulted in the process of finalising the spendings on developmental activities. NPP MLA Harshdev Singh alleged that Rs 3.5 crore were swindled by the officials of Roads and Buildings department in district Udhampur. However, the finance Minister said the government would initiate proceedings of dismissing the concerned officials from service if the allegations were proved. He sought details of the alleged funds swindle from the concerned MLA.
