| JKNPP pleads pleads for studying EVMs | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 4: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) today pleaded with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) to appoint a small committee of 5 to 10 representatives of the state and the national parties to study performance, draw backs, positive and negative aspects of the use of Electronic Voting Mechines (EVMs). In a handout issued here today, JKNPP Chairman Bhim Singh has said that electronic voting machines have become a center of controversy as a sizeable strength of intellectuals, parliamentarians and political parties are not satisfied with their working. He added that government is wasting more than Rs.2000 crores in the name of MPLADS. Singh said that crimination of politics is highly dangerous which threatens the very roots of democracy and rule of law. The JKNPP leader suggested Chief Election Commission of India to constitute a committee for working out a solution to ensure free and fair polls in the country. He maintined that the same would be in interest of preserving democracy which is passing through a crucial stage today.
