Jammu Dental College getting recognized shortly: Sham

SRINAGAR, Oct 4: Jammu and Kashmir government has appointed recently full time Principal for Indira Gandhi Government Dental College (IGGDC) of Jammu and put in place four dental chairs.
This was stated by the Minister for Health Sham Lal in reply to a question of Ajay Sadhotra in Legislative Council today. He said that posts of other faculty members had been advertised but no eligible candidate was available, adding that the department will again advertise these posts for engaging them on academic arrangement basis.
As soon as all these deficiencies are removed, the matter would be taken up with the Dental Council of India (DCI) for getting it recognized, Sham added. Total number of students studding in different classes, at present in the college is 216. He said that Indira Gandhi Government Dental College is a government institution and the deficiencies pointed out by the Dental Council of India (DCI) are being fulfilled for getting the college finally recognized.
Meanwhile, work on the Railway line from Udhampur to Srinagar is in progress and its 95 percent of Udhampur to katra stretch has been completed while as 30 percent of Katra-Qazigund stretch stands also completed. This was stated by the Minster for Rural Development, Ali Mohammad Sagar in reply to a question of Vijay Bakaya in Legislative Council today.
He said that project is schedule to be completed in two phases including Udhampur-Katra stretch in March 2012 and Katra-Qazigund stretch in December 2017. The building of Degree College, Mendhar has been completed. The internal and finishing works are in progress and likely to be completed in the next three months.
This was stated by the Minister for Higher Education, Abdul Gani Malik in reply to a question of Mohammad Rashid Qureshi in Legislative Council today. He said that college has 14 sanctioned posts of lecturers in different subjects out of which 12 posts have been filled on regular basis and two posts on academic arrangement.
He said that government intends to strengthen all the colleges including Degree College Mendhar in every respect subject to the availability of funds. He said that about 589 students on rolls in the degree college Poonch adding that 13 subjects including English, Applied Math, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Computer, Education and Economics etc.
