| T20 Cricket: Diamond, Singh Club in QFs | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 5: Diamond (Simbal) Club and Singh Cricket Club today qualified for the third round of quarterfinals in the ongoing Friendship Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at Bana Singh Stadium, R S Pura. In the first match of the day, Diamond Club registered a 66 runs win over Bala Chak Cricket Club. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Diamond Club set a target of 168 runs for the loss eight wickets, which, in reply, Bala Chak failed to attain and lost all their wickets for 106 runs in 17.3 overs. Harvinder Singh and Inderjeet Singh were top scorers with 36 runs each while Chamkor Singh contributed 14-ball 29 runs. From Bala Chak, Kumesh and Rakesh shared three wickets each. Later, Bala Chak made a poor beginning and in the process lost all their wickets for 106 runs in 17.3 overs. Billa remained the highest scorer with 23 runs, followed by Manga, who added 12 runs. Mehdeep was most successful bowler from Diamond Club with three wickets while Chamkor Singh and Inderjeet Singh bagged two and one respectively. For his all round performance, Inderjeet Singh was declared man of the match. Meanwhile, in another match of the day, Singh Cricket Club registered an impressive 18 runs win over Chakroi Cricket Club. Earlier, after winning the toss and decided to bat first, Singh Club made 166 runs for seven with Gurmeet being the top scorer (54 off 44 balls). Narinder and Sahil Sharma added valuable 28 and 20 runs respectively. Yudhvir bagged three wickets and Rohit took two from Chakroi Club. Later, chasing a target of over eight runs per over, Chakroi Club could make only 148 runs for the loss of five wickets. Javinder remained top scorer with 59 runs while Sopinal hit the ball hard making eight-ball 23 runs hitting five boundaries. From Singh Club, Jarnail Singh and Sahil Sharma clinched two and one wicket respectively. For his half century (54), Gurmeet Singh was adjudged man of the match. Today’s matches were officiated by Suresh Singh, Pankaj Sassan and Madan Mohan under the supervision of Varinder Sharma and Naveen Sharma.
