An alleged case of corruption: Examinees beat BOSE officials

KISHTWAR, Oct 5: In an alleged case of demand of money by four officials of board of school education (BOSE) from examinees to facilitate cheating, the latter beat them up in an examination centre here today.
The officials were also alleged to have misbehaved with some female candidates, police sources said.
They arrived here from Doda in the morning and went to centre No 701 of boys higher secondary school, Kishtwar, where students were taking D E Ed papers.
Sources said they allegedly demanded money from the examinees to facilitate cheating by them. However, finding no response, they started harassing them, the sources added.
Sources said they also misbehaved with some girl candidates while making searches of their belongings. This angered the male candidates, who then beat them up, the sources added.
The four BOSE employees were accompanied by a fouth class employee of the Kishtwar branch of the office, sources informed.
In his written complaint to the school principal, the centre suprintendent said some unknown BOSE officials entered the examination hall without proving their identity.
He alleged that when examinees refused to pay them money, saying they wound not resort to cheating, the officials harassed them and also misbehaved with female candidates, besides throwing their answer sheets.
The matter was later reported to police by the school management. Police soon reached the spot and pacified the situation.
The centre superintendent said the male candidates beat up the officials only after they misbehaved with the girls. One of the officials was under the influence of liquor, he alleged.
The Kishtwar district teachers association president also reached the school and helped the authorities to pacify the situation.
Police had registered a case in this connection under FIR No 209 and section 353/323 of RPC.
