Rajouri College president murdered
Five persons arrested; locals, students hold protest

RAJOURI, Oct 6: Newly elected President of Post Graduate College, Rajouri was murdered by some people of his village late last night. Police has lodged FIR and arrested five persons allegedly involved in the crime.
As per reports, newly elected PG College, Rajouri, president Ali Asghar Jatt (19) son of Mohd Ayub Jatt of Dhanidhar village was murdered last night while he was returning home with his friends after celebrations of his win in the college elections.
Police sources said that some youth were already waiting him near Water Filtration Plant of Public Health Engineering on Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Road. "When Ali Asghar reached the spot, he was stopped and abused which was followed by scuffle between the local youth and him in which he received some internal injuries", police sources said, adding, that although he was shifted to District Hospital Rajouri, the doctors on duty declared him dead. His postmortem was held in the Hospital and samples collected by cross examination in the laboratory at Jammu.
Sources said that although the reason of murder is yet to be ascertained, he has been murdered for establishing affairs with a girl in the village.
"This may be the reason behind his murder besides his election as President may also be one reason", police sources said.
Police sources said that there was no injury on the body of the deceased and he might be killed due to some internal injury.
The incident of murder of the student leader triggered protests in Rajouri town as students and people blocked traffic on Sher-e-Kashmir Bridge in Rajouri town and sat on a dharna. They were demanding immediate arrest of the accused involved in the incident.
Following public pressure, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri GA Khawaja, SSP Rajouri RK Jala also reached the spot and assured the protestors to meet their demands.
Meanwhile police has lodged FIR No 367 of 2010 under section 302 in the police station against 10 persons among which five have been arrested. The accused who were arrested have been identified as Majid Khan and Sajid Khan, Haji Afzal Khan, Waseem Shah and Tufail Shah. However five others have reportedly absconded.
Following tense situation in the area, police has installed pickets in the houses of accused persons to protect their family members from any attack.
Deputy Commissioner Rajouri has also directed College authorities to observe 3 days mourning in the college where all educational institutions of district were directed to observe one day mourning and holiday on Thursday.
When contacted Station House Officer, Police Station Rajouri Jaan Mohammad said that the actual reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained. . "We have also arrested 5 accused and some more arrest will be taken place within days", he added.
