Jagti village combines festival celebrations

JAMMU, OCTOBER 29
Association for Social Health in India (ASHI), J&K branch, a voluntary organization actively engaged in the task of upliftment of women and children has adopted Panchayat Jagti for intensive development in the spirit of partnership and stakeholdership of the community.
In this connection, a Mela was organized at village Jagti by way of celebration of Diwali, Eid and Gurpurab today to stimulate an interactive and participatory base with the local people stalls of eatable and games were the main attraction. Vice President, AWWA, Nagrota, Mrs Situ Jaswal inaugurated the mela.
Many exquisite products prepared by local people, inmates of short stay homes and Degree College for Women, Parade were on display. Shri Gandhi Sewa Sadan had also put up a stall of various khadi products and gramudyog.
The President of ASHI, Shrimati Premini Sinha had sent her greetings for the success of the event. Apart from the members of ASHI, there was a huge turn out of the local people to the mela. The inaugural function mainly comprised cultural programme presented by the locals and the inmates of Neha Ghar and Apna Ghar short stay homes run under the aegis of ASHI. The students of Vasudev Kutumubkam also presented a nukkad programme. The participants of the cultural were felicitated by the chief guest by way of presentation of shawls. Sports material and uniform sweaters were distributed among five school of Jagti Panchayat.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest complimented ASHI for initiative and underscored the importance of coordinated effort with the community for sustainable programme of development.
Earlier, Vice President ASHI, Ms Sushma Choudhary welcomed the chief guest. She lauded the role of Degree College for Women, Gandhi Nagar and Parade who have extended full cooperation for the mela. She also thanked XVI Corps for logistical support for the mela.
The prominent participants in the mela include Secretary ASHI Mrs. Prof. Kailash Rajput, Secretary Apna Ghar, Prof. Reeta Jitendra, Secretary Neha Ghar, Mrs. Krishna Koul, Prof. Dr. Ved Kumari Ghai, Mrs. Sneh Chopra, Dr. Kusum Gupta, Prof. Sarla Kohli and Mrs. Seema Khajuria Shekhar.
