| JKPP organizes Panchayati Raj Awareness camp | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 7: The Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Parishad (JKPP) continuing in its awareness campaign about 3-tier Panchayati Raj system organized an awareness camp at Billawar in Distt. Kathua here today Pawan Dev, Jagdev Singh, Karan Singh, Akhtar Ali, Hazi Qayam Din, Sham Lal, Tarlochan Singh and Nazir Ahmed were prominent among the participants from Panchayati Raj institutions. President JKPP Jugal Kirshore Gupta was the chief guest Dr.Gopal Sharma, Surjit Ram, Noor Afzal and Yoginder Singh all members of AIPC were present in the meeting. The speakers highlighted the role and importance of Panchayati Raj in the natural growth and development of the rual masses and stressed on the necessity of early elections of Panchayats in J&K state. They demanded from the govt. to exhibit the needed will, administrative skill and political desire to achieve the goal of installing a Panchayati Raj system in letter and spirit. The delay in the matter shall cause financial losses of crores of rupees of Panchayat Development funds of the central Govt. the speakers also drew the attention of the authorities of social welfare department, rural development department and revenue department to their genuine grievances and wanted an early redressal of the same. Earlier in the porgramme Karan Singh and Jagdev Singh were elected as JKPP president and Vice-President respectively of block Billawar.
