T20 Cricket: LCC wins by 4 wkts, enters QFs

JAMMU, October 07: With his all round performance, Shashi today helped Lion Cricket Club (LCC) beat Golden Cricket Club (GCC) by four wickets on way to the quarterfinals in the ongoing Twenty20 Friendship Cricket Tournament at Bana Singh Stadium, R S Pura, here.
Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, GCC bowled out for 122 runs. Later, LCC chased the total making 123 runs in 18.3 overs. Jyoti and Goldy were main scorers with 24 and 19 runs respectively. From LCC, Mukesh and Shashi took two wickets each.
In reply, LCC overhauled the opponent total for the loss of six wickets. Shashi was top scorer with 23-ball 36 runs while Vikas contributed 15. Sandeep Singh took two wickets from GCC. For his all-round performance, Shashi was adjudged man of the match.
Meanwhile, in another match of the day, Kalayana Cricket Club (KCC) registered a six wickets win over Shamka Cricket Club (SCC) in a low scoring game to reach the last eight stages.
Batting first, SCC bowled out for a small total of 53 runs in 11.4 overs. Bidar and Mangat Ram were only batsmen to score in double figure with 17 and 12 runs respectively. From KCC, Mubasher clinched three wickets, followed by Karan Bhagat and Kewal, who shared two each.
In reply, KCC surpassed the the required total making 156 runs in 11.4 overs with six wickets in hand. Bindu played unbeaten innings of 23 (off 18 balls) runs. Mangat Ram claimed two wickets and Rajesh took one. For his match winning innings of 23 runs, Bindu was declared man of the match.
Today’s matches were officiated by Pankaj Sasan, Suresh, Naveen Sharma and Varinder Sharma.
