Madan advocates Gandhian Principle to eradicate social evils

JAMMU, OCTOBER 07: Mahila Gramin Welfare Sadan, Bishnah, celebrated Gandhi Jayanti at Ward No 2 Bishnah in which Member Parliament, Mr Madan Lal Sharma was the chief guest.
Among others, Vice Chairman SC Advisory Board, Mrs Swarn Lata, State Director KVIC, Mr. B.R Chouhan, Vice Chairman OBC, Mr Kuldeep Verma, ADDC Jammu, Mr D.R Sharma, Director Handicraft and district level officers were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Madan Lal Sharma asked the people to follow the foot steps of Mahatma Gandhi to liberate today’s society from the web of violence hatred and other social evils. He said that centre and state government has launched a number of welfare schemes for the upliftment of weaker sections of the society. He stressed upon the NGOs to make aware the people living in far-off areas about the schemes launched by the government.
On the occasion, the MP announced construction of I Km road to Radha Swami Ashram and high mast lights worth Rs. 1.20 lakh for Kabir mandir. He also asked the concerned authorities to prepare an estimate for construction of media room at Bishnah.
He urged upon the NGOs to organize awareness camps in every month so that the benefit of various schemes launched by the government would percolate to the general masses.
He also distributed 20 cheques amounting Rs. 1200 each among the beneficiaries under various schemes.
Earlier, Mr. Madan Lal Sharma today conducted tour of SC Basti at Keran in Ban Talab to take stock of their problems and demands.
The problems projected by the inhabitants of the basti were mainly pertained to repair of lanes and drains, proper drinking water and power supply, better education facilities, improved medicare etc.
The MP issued on the spot instructions to the accompanying officers to start the work of blacktopping on the damaged road leading to the basti besides preparing DPRs for construction of bridge over the nallah which was the main demand of the locals. He also directed the BDO to take up the works of lanes and drains under NREGA.
