'All govt show' in Assembly for two days? | Entire opposition to boycott | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Oct 7: In what it looks to be likely scene at J&K Legislative Assembly tomorrow, it is going to all 'government show', given that all the opposition parties will stay away from the proceedings of the House during the last two days. In the government business and other agenda to be taken up towards the culmination of the proceedings, there are some important pieces of legislation which will apparently be considered and passed by the allies of the coalition. While the main opposition party PDP chose to boycott the rest of the session after registering presence on the first day alone, following the unprecedented political developments today, BJP and Panthers Party have also followed the suit, deciding not to be a part of the Assembly proceedings anymore during the ongoing autumn session. It will be perhaps for the first time that Assembly proceedings will be run without presence of opposition parties in the House. BJP has 11 MLAs in the House while as Panthers Party has three members in the Assembly. However, non participation of the entire opposition may not affect the quorum as it requires 23 members in all to be present for conduct of the proceedings. Sources however disclosed that both the allies of the coalition have given directions to members to remain present in the House for next two days. The autumn session which began on September 30 will conclude on October 9. BJP decided to boycott the rest of the session after its MLAs were forcibly marshalled out of the House when they were trying to lodge protest over Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's remarks over Accession of state with India. However, Panthers Party which also expressed its displeasure over the remarks, terming these as loaded with anti-national contours, took the decision late in the evening today to boycott the proceedings. " There is no point to be a part of the House proceedings in the backdrop of what CM Omar Abdullah has uttered on the floor of the House……….", said Harsh Dev Singh, MLA and leader of the Panthers Party. The talk of trust deficit and governance deficit which Centre has been making lately is only getting vindicated as this government has already lost its credibility among people ….and now it has lost the confidence of all opposition members in the House ….this government has no moral authority to continue, Harsh Dev said. There were certainly some important pieces of legislation over which opposition views and opinion would have mattered, he said adding that now these would be passed without debate , which only makes mockery of the democracy.
