Srinagar, Oct 8: Today in Legislative Assembly complex awards were given to various media personalities.
The awards were given by the Chief Minister of J&K, Mr. Omar Abdullah in an impressive function organized by the office of the Legislative Assembly in Legislative Complex. Present on the occasion were Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Mr. Mohammad Akbar Lone, Deputy Chairman, Legislative Council, S. Arvinder Singh Mickey, Deputy Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Council of Ministers, legislators, Chief Secretary, Director General Police, several heads of Department besides Secretary, Assembly, and Secretary, Council.
On the recommendations of the award selection committee, Daily Excelsior and Kashmir News Service (KNS) were given cash awards of Rs. 25,000 each and United News of India (UNI) and ANI were given cash awards of Rs. 15,000 and 10,000 respectively.
The awards of honour were also given to the respectable members of the Media Advisory Group. Those who received awards on the occasion in person include Chief Editor KNS, Mr. Mohammad Aslam, Bureau Chief, UNI, Mr. Bashir Ahmad Sofi, Proprietor and Chief Editor Chattan, Mr. Tahir Mohi-ud-Din, Editor Srinagar Times, Mr. Bashir Ahmad Bashir.
For the best contribution and best media coverage and being members of Advisory Group of Legislative Assembly special awards of honour were bestowed upon the media persons who received awards on the occasion include Resident Editor, Early Times, Jammu, Mr. Ahmad Ali Fayaz, Correspondent Press Trust of India, Mr. Majid Inayat Jahangir, Editor State Voice, Mr. Rakesh Mahajan, Editor Tameel Irshad, Mr. Akash Amin, Bureau Chief DNA, Mr. Ishfaq-ul- Hassan, Correspondent, the Week, Mr. Tariq Bhat, Bureau Chief News X, Mr. Sohail Bukhari, Bureau Chief Sahara Samay, Mr. Bilal Bhat, Bureau Chief Times Now, Mir Fareed, President of Photographers Union, Mr. Farooq Javed, Bureau Chief ANI, Mr. Bilal Ahmad and Camerman ANI, Mr. Fayaz Ahmad.

The awards for the Information Department and other associate media groups shall be distributed in separate ceremony.
