Jammu, Oct 8: A two day training programme on "Diagnostic tools in orchard soils and Fruit Plant Analysis" was conducted by Division of Soil Science and agricultural chemistry, SKUAAST-J Chatha here today. Professor and head of deptt. Dr. A K Bhat apprised officers of the state Horticulture department representing different districts of Jammu, the importance of diagnostic tools for assessing soil and plant health of the orchards in Jammu for increasing productivity and quality fruits. Director extension education Dr. K S Risam laid emphasis on need for complete interaction between the scientist and the filed functionaries for using latest techniques in soil testing for the benefit of orchardists, while Dr. R M Bhagat Director Research while interacting with horticulture development officers appreciated the endeavrours made by division soil science and Agricultural Chemistry in starting organized soil mapping of Jammu at block level involving GIS tools. |
