JU's Urdu deptt. Organizes seminar on Urdu journalism | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 8: Journalism is a noble profession and is the pillar of democracy. A journalism should fearless dedicated and over all honest because he projected the realities of society. He should not compromise with the establishment on wrong policies but at the same time he should also highlight the good policies of government. These views were expressed by illustrious speakers during a national seminar on Urdu journalism organized by the department of Urdu, University of Jammu here today. Dr. Sahid Parvez, Former Bureau Chief Qurni Awaz, New Delhi, Shial Kazmi Editor-in-Chief Daily Taskeen Jammu and Prof. Wahej-ud-Din Alvi from Jamai Melia Islamia, New Delhi, were the resource persons of the seminar. The seminar inaugurated by Ved Bhasin. In his address, Bhasin describe Journalism a noble profession which needs dedication and honesty. He in detail threw light on the aims and objectives of Journalism. Regarding Urdu journalism Bhasin said that it is a Important Genere of Urdu language, Urdu had produced noted Journalist like Hasrat Mohani, Mir Baker Ali, sir Sayed Ahmed Khan, Mulana Johar and Mulana Abdul Kalam Azad who through their Urdu journals had brought many changes in the society. Though Urdu news papers are deprived by government by not issuing advertisements but still crores of people in India love to read Urdu Newspapers. He demanded all type of help to Urdu newspapers from official side. He described journalism fourth pillar of democracy and said that Editorial is the Crux of Journalism through which reader can judge the policies of newspaper. Tracing the history of Urdu journalism Dr. Shahid Parvez described Jam-e-Jahan Nama as Ist Urdu newspapers. He said that Urdu Journalism had played vital role in the freedom struggle of India Dr. Parvez also threw light on various techniques of Urdu Journalism. How to make news and what should be the headline of a good news, he informed that there is a lot of scope in Urdu journalism as many news papers in Urdu are being published throughout the world. Similar views are expressed by secretary General Press Club Jammu Suhail Kazmi. While publishing the news its proof should be read. In his presidential address Prof. Wahej-ud-Din Alvi described the seminar a most successful as it was attended by noted Urdu Journalist of the state. He congratulated department of urdu for organizing this meaningful seminar. He advised the new generation to take urdu journalism seriously as there is a lot of scope in it to learn livelihood. He said that a good journalist should not compromise on wrong policies of establishment and should brought truth in light. Noted urdu journalist of the state Rehmatullah Ronyal presented a detail a paper on journalism on the occasion which was highly appreciated by the audience. Earlier Prof. Shohad Inayat Malik in his welcome address criticizes the state government for not providing its support to urdu journalism. He congratulated all those despite many adds had alived urdu journalism in the state of J&K. |
