Sarwal Hospital exposes tall claims as staff remains off | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 8: The promise of 24x7 health facility to the people announced by government falling short by several miles and is exposed by Government Hospital Sarwal. Notably, the State Government had made many proposals for achieving better health care system but on the ground nothing has progressed and the official concerned have made mockery of authorities' promises. Many district and sub-district hospitals are meant for providing 24 hours service to people, but refuting this no hospital is doing so due to some reason or other. Here is the example of Government District Hospital Sarwal where the staff is not serious about their duties. During night hours, there is only one doctor on duty who has to look after the entire hospital. The condition of para medical staff is no different, as they prefer to stay at home than on duty. On information board, there mentioned 24 hours facilities of X-Ray, ECG, Ultra sonogrophy, laboratory, Ambulance, Operation Theater and other required facilities. But a visit to the hospital will easily prove that none is bothered to attend the duty during night hours. Besides, all the clinical departments remain closed. And there remains no one to attend the patients except one Casualty Medical Officer who listen to all the patients. When any patient needs these facilities the doctor on duty refers the patient either to Government Medical College (GMC) or Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital. When contacted, Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Madhu Khullar said that they have only four doctors for night duty who performs their duty one by one while others are available on call. She further said that there is also shortage of para medical staff due to which sometime the security guard were forced to do Nursing Orderly (NO) duty.
