5-wkt win for Udhampur College | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 09: Brilliant fifty by Deepak Thakur today guided Government Degree College Udhampur to a fine five-wicket win over Government Degree College Kathua to reach the second round of pre-quarterfinals in the ongoing inter-college cricket tournament at JU grounds, here. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Rajouri College set a target of 148 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, which, in reply, Udhampur chased in 19.5 overs for five thereby making it a sensational victory. Tarun Kumar played superb innings of 39-ball 54 runs while Tanveer and Asif Mustafa contributed 49 and 16 runs respectively. From Udhampur College, Umesh Kumar, Mukesh Kumar and Ankush Bandral shared two wickets each. Batting second, Udhampur College reached the required total on the second last delivery of the final 20th hitting a boundary to make 152 runs with five wickets in hand. Deepak Thakur made highest 52 (off 36 balls, 1x6, 7x4) runs. Umesh Kumar and Arvind contributed 24 and 28 runs respectively. Imran Khan took two wickets from Rajouri College while Tarun Kumar and Yogeshwar shared apiece each.
