Lawyers strike completes a month

Jammu, July 27 : Work in local bench of Jammu and Kashmir high court and other lower courts here remained paralysed as indefinite strike of Jammu lawyers, demanding transfer of sex scandal case to here, continued for the 30th consecutive day today.

Bar Association of Jammu (BAJ) General Secretary Abinav Sharma told UNI that the lawyers, however remained present in court premises. He said the strike would go on till the association's demands of transfer of cases for fair trial were not met with.

Meanwhile, a BAJ deputation, led by its president Ved Raj Wazir, discussed with Transport Minister Mangat Ram Sharma the onngoing strike.

The Minister assured the deputation that demand regarding transfer of sex scandal cases from Srinagar to Jammu will be placed before Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad for consideration.

The lawyers, who started indefinite strike on June 28 against denial of right of defence and threat issued to lawyers in Srinagar while representing their clients, have been demanding the case be transferred here or tried in any court outside the state.
