Crackers worth Rs 15 lakh seized, two held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 9: Chinor police conducted a raid in the residential area of Lakshmipuram and seized crackers worth Rs 15 lakh. Police also seized fifty commercial gas cylinders and arrested two brothers who were holding the consignment in the three rooms of their residence. Based on specific information that the crackers worth Rs 15 lakh were stored in a residence, a police party headed by In-charge Police Post Chinore Sub Inspector Ajay Chib conducted a raid. Police sources said that the consignment of crackers was dumped to sell it in the open market on the occasion of Deepawali but before the crackers' delivery to the markets for sale purpose, the same were seized. The seizure made by police also wards off any untoward incident as storage of huge quantity of crackers in residential area could have proved disastrous. Two brothers running illegal racket were also arrested on the spot, sources maintained. They have been identified as Vinod Gupta and Sunil Gupta both sons of Laju Gupta. A case against the duo has been registered in this connection and the investigation was in progress. |
