| Samooh Theatre organizes Natya Path. | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, October 10: Samooh Theatre organized a play reading session of Rajneesh Gupta’s new Hindi play “Kali Dhoop” here at K.L.Sehgal Hall.
On the occasion Lalit Mangotra president Dogri Sanstha was the chief guest, while Janak Khajuria a TV and theatre artist and Parshotam Sharma shared the Presdium.
While addressing Lalit Mangotra congratulated Rajneesh Gupta for his new creative piece “Kali Dhoop”.
He also appreciated the work of Samooh Theatre especially for organizing such type of play reading activities.
He further said that there is already dearth of Hindi plays at the national scenario and this play would prove a master piece in Hindi Drama. He added that Samooh Theatre has started new tradition of play readings and will remain continue in future also.
The play “Kali Dhoop” is about the old aged couple Parmod and Savitri. Both have spent about fifteen years alone waiting for their son Rajan to come from abroad.
Both spend time collecting things for their son. They remember the past days when Rajan was a kid. Since Savitri had conceived after ten years of their marriage, she did not want her son to study in a hostel but in her act, Rajan feels angry and try to get rid of his parents. He searches a job in foreign and leaves his parents alone in India. Savitri weeps a lot but Pramod consolse her .
In Abroad, Rajan marries a British girl and becomes father of a child. Parmod and Savitri get this news only telephone. Savitri wanted a beautiful, homely girl Neerja to get married with her son but all her wishes dash to ground.
Parmod tells lie to Neerja that they have disinherited Rajan and now he cannot claim his share of ancestral property. Dissapaointed Neerja gets married to anothey guy. In this way, Parmod saved the life of Neerja but Savitri did not like this.
After fifteen years Rajan comes to India for his official purposes. He stays in his parental house. Parmod and Savitri get overwhelmed with joy but Rajan declares that he would leave for foreign soon after two days. Parmod and Savitri plan to kill themselves so that their son would perform ritual after their death with his own hands.
The moment they want to kill themselves, Savitri takes a decision that there is no need to kill each other for their son. They have to live for themselves. In the morning when Rajan was about to leave for his journey Savitri slaps him & orders him to leave her home at once.
Earlier, Dr. Sudhir Mahajan welcomed all the guests in his address he said that It is matter of pleasure that one more new play has come in the theatre and It should be welcomed by the writers and theatre fraternity.
The play was read by the noted theatre artist and activist of the state included Rajesh Raina, Santosh Sangra, Rajneesh Gupta and Inderjeet Singh Sambyal.
The prominent persons from the literature art and theatre fraternity where also present on the occasion which include Vijay Malla, T S Premi, Randhir Singh Rajpuria, Janak Khajuria, Kumar A Bharti, Ritu, Ravinder Sharma, Daya Ram Daya, Shiv Dev Singh Sushil, Dhian Singh, Janak Raj ,Tanveer Dar,.Kamal Sharma, T.R. Sharma and Others.
